Imac Fusion Drive, Adobe, Help!

wrote: There may also be a conflict with another program on your machine. what she is describing is happening at a much lower level, and apps run in their own user space anyway so they can't conflict with each other, nor can they cause the symptoms she's describing unless there's a kernel extension, which there is not with creative suite. in other words, you're talking out your ass. Since you deny software conflicts, read this, which I ran into, and wrote about several days ago. http://support.dxo.com/entries/23411333-image-processing-does-not-start what does that have to do with mac os x or fusion? hint: nothing. on os x, apps do not conflict with each other. they run in protected memory spaces. furthermore, what she describes is a system freeze, not a user space issue. there *might* be an issue if there' a kernel extension involved, but that would still be rare. not impossible, however. the apps she mentioned don't have kexts, so this can be ruled out. in other words, you're talking out your ass, as usual. If Adobe wants to charge for the call, pay them the money, and argue later, if it is indeed an Adobe issue. don't pay them a cent. It's obvious you know nothing about business. It's far more important for the OP to solve the issue, than to stand on principle. then why don't you offer to pay for any expenses incurred? what's important is to not pay anything when it's not needed. the more i think about it, the more i think it's a hardware issue. i can't see how it could be adobe's fault, especially since in one scenario where she said it froze, all she had running was solitaire and mail, neither of which are adobe software. i also suggested looking at the console messages to see if there are any clues, however, it may be hard to decipher those. meanwhile, not only have you not offered her any helpful advice, but you suggested spending her money needlessly. |

Not even worth replying to: on os x, apps do not conflict with each other. they run in protected memory spaces. furthermore, what she describes is a system freeze, not a user space issue. there *might* be an issue if there' a kernel extension involved, but that would still be rare. not impossible, however. the apps she mentioned don't have kexts, so this can be ruled out. in other words, you're talking out your ass, as usual. So that conflict does not exist. DXo is lying. thank you for throwing light on the situation. Horror of horrors, spend money, to accomplish a business objective. Your response is not at all helpful to the OP. Yes, in business there are times when one needs to spend money, in order to meet a business commitment, and one swallows it. You probably walk to work to save money. Go, have the last word, as your fragile ego demands. -- PeterN |

Not even worth replying to: a wise move on your part, as you would be digging yourself a deeper hole. yet for some reason, you continue: on os x, apps do not conflict with each other. they run in protected memory spaces. furthermore, what she describes is a system freeze, not a user space issue. there *might* be an issue if there' a kernel extension involved, but that would still be rare. not impossible, however. the apps she mentioned don't have kexts, so this can be ruled out. in other words, you're talking out your ass, as usual. So that conflict does not exist. DXo is lying. thank you for throwing light on the situation. not on a mac it doesn't, which is what the original poster has, plus she never mentioned dxo anyway. your comment was *completely* irrelevant on multiple levels. as i said, you're talking out your ass. Horror of horrors, spend money, to accomplish a business objective. there is no point in spending money when it's not necessary, which is an even more important business objective. Your response is not at all helpful to the OP. my responses were *far* more helpful than the garbage you spewed. i gave specific suggestions, such as looking at the console messages to help diagnose the problem. i doubt you even know what that *means*. what she describes sounds like a hardware issue. it's not possible for a user space app to cause the clock to freeze and the machine to lock up. Yes, in business there are times when one needs to spend money, in order to meet a business commitment, and one swallows it. there are, but this is not one of them. You probably walk to work to save money. what does that have to do with anything? you are grasping at straws. Go, have the last word, as your fragile ego demands. i'm not the one with a fragile ego, who is desperately trying to prove me wrong at every turn. |
