Totally untouched photo of a thistle (canadian thistle, I think) I shot
near Cauldron Linn on the Snake River a couple of days ago.

The bee looks weird. Too much sharpening?

Nice catch with the bee. Looks like our California species; Cirsium
occidentale - Cobwebby Thistle, because of the cobwebbing.

This isn't any sort of luck. This is about as basic as basic gets. Beginner
students should be able to capture images like this their first week with
their very first camera. Your example sorely needs cropping too. I'll leave
it to you to figure out the composition required of this subject. Even
remedial photographers would do this cropping and composition properly
in-camera.

Pouring scorn - did you notice yet that some of it spills into your
everyday life? Ew.

Very nice image. I predict you'll find these lucky shots are happening more
and more often.

All the best,

Nice shot. I'd crop it so it doesn't sit quite so low in the frame.
