Default The End is Nigh for NIK

Google hasn’t been developing NIK for over two years.

Most of the guys behind NIK moved on to greener pastures and have been
working on Luminar and Aurora HDR for Macphun which will be releasing Win
editions of both apps.

Does anyone here know if it will work with Win10? They show Vista, 7 &
8, but not 10 on their site. I have an older version that works up to
a point, and I'd like to use the newer version, but there's no point
if it won't work with Windows 10.

NIK should work with Win10, and they haven’t updated their web site for
four years, until they added their “We quit!” banner. The last NIK update
was back in 2015.

What version do you have?
There won’t be any skin off your nose if you grab their last update, but
you have been warned, it is a dead app walking.

I expected development of NIK to end much sooner.

Effectively NIK development ended in 2015 when the guys Google inherited from
the NIK San Diego operation left for Portland to join the MacPhun effort.

Speaking of MacPhun, they are probably going to be due for a name change, to
something such as WinMacPhun.

Here is one of my Yosemite shots edited using Luminar.

Follow the money and the challenge, I don’t think these guys were spending
too much time on the beach at La Jolla. They took the Google blood money, and
left the doomed NIK ship. Google got what they wanted, “Snapseed”.
Google had no intention of developing the NIK Collection, and that was
confirmed when the guys who polished and debugged the Collection were no
longer needed in Mountain View when NIK was given away after the final
update. So they left the overpriced Bay Area real estate market for hip
Portland.

It works fine on Win 10.
