when will this be cheap enough so that it might replace regular prints
even for the consumer market?

thin enough? thin enough battery? inexpensive enough battery?

might replace albums?

it will never replace a regular print because paper is very, very cheap.

thin enough? thin enough battery? inexpensive enough battery?

might replace albums?


albums have already been replaced with smartphones and tablets.

oled is also not a good choice for photos.

That depends on the intention of the display.
The electronic frame might work quite well on a desk, or if larger, on
a wall in an office or reception area, but for my money, a properly
framed, good quality print, on a premium paper, is tough to better.

I have framed prints I am proud of, and the impact of a large print
made on a quality photo printer has to be seen properly displayed to be
fully appreciated. I have a hard time considering those prints
displayed in any sort of electronic frame regardless of size. Yet, I am
sure that there are going to be images displayed in an electronic frame
which will impress.
