Pure ammonium thiosulfate fixer
(Travis C. Porco) wrote
I have a question: Is there anything wrong with the use of pure ammonium thiosulfate as a fixer for pyro-developed film? ... I have some of the "60% ammonium thiosulfate" made by Formulary. I'm slowly working my way through a quart their 60%. I've been using it for prints, one-shot, 1/4 oz per 8 oz of fix, single bath. I add nothing to it. I'll be processing some film soon but have not yet determined the quantity. If you want to give it a try, use 1 oz for whatever your volume; so much silver, so much chemistry. The ph should be close to neutral. I'll take my pHep meter to it one of these days. I've found A. Thio as oderless as S. Thio, at least when used with no additives. I'm a minimalist. Dan |
