Default New Camera ????

OK ... I'm seeing the Rebel with lens down to $899 now and the Nikon D70
w lens down to $1200. Is something new about to appear just in time
for Christmas?

Of course. But if you are seeing those prices from web scam shops or
Brooklyn shafters you will get screwed, instead of getting a deal.
Photokina is in late Sept or early Oct. Canon will doubtless have at
least one new camera for Christmas. Nikon, probably will not, as they
brought out the D70 just last spring.

I'm not so sure; Fry's Electronics has been selling the DR kit for
$949US for a few months now, and they aren't the cheapest around.

From what I got from the local camera shop about 10 minutes after the
Nikon rep went through, Nikon will announce two new DSLRs at Photokina.
Someone else posted something similar with model numbers attached to
their posting. (I didn't hear any model numbers mentioned...the other
poster
called them the "D2X" and the "D200". -- Makes sense to me as the D1X
is quite outdated and the D100 doesn't look that attractive after the D70
introduction.)

Everybody always has inside information about every announcement. Most of
the time the info turns out to be pure crap but there is a chance this one
is "right". Just don't bet any farms on it.
