What are the advantages of an slr camera now?

Compact digital cameras equipped with a zoom lens
negating the need for interchangeable lenses
and having a large viewing window with no parallax
can do anything an slr digital camera can do.

zero viewfinder latency, a wide variety of lenses and excellent image
quality.

you're either incredibly ignorant or you're trolling.

your newsreader is also misconfigured because the followup field is set
to your supposed email address, which tilts the balance to troll.

I have no idea of your purposes in making photographs, so I could not
possibly know if using a DSLR would be advantageous to you. Many are
convinced, however, that DSLR's are advantageous for macrophotography;
sports photography; extreme wide-angle, including fisheye; scientific
photography; controlling multiple speedlites or studio flashes, or a
combination of the two; and other things that are not easily done with
compact cameras. But again, I cannot say whether the ability to do
these things would be advantageous to you.

Thank you. I hadn't been aware of that. I never see photos like this
made with point-and-shoot cameras. That could mean that I don't get
around much. https://www.flickr.com/photos/primeval/15581578349

Neat capture.

Depends entirely on what you intend to do with the camera.

The family of lenses available for the SLR may have far greater
capabilities than the permanently attached zoom lens on the compact.

The SLR may have a lot of exposure features not found on a compact.

The important question is: Do YOU care?
Suit the camera to the task at hand. If all you're doing is shooting
photos for eBay, use your cellphone camera. If you need macro focusing,
or exposure control, or flash fill, you may need an SLR.

Thank you. No worries about the dark alley. If you meet that *girl* it
will likely be in broad daylight. She carries a nasty sting, and unlike
a honeybee, can sting repeatedly. The good news is that, like most
wasps, she is not particularly aggressive unless she feels threatened.
The bad news is that we don't always know what "threatened" means to
her.
