The article does not cite the government accusing Apple of tax evasion.

Large corporations worldwide end up having to correct their taxes
following audits where interpretation of tax codes make the difference.
Indeed whatever team is auditing can make a huge difference in the
outcome.

As to the amount, it is rounding error where Apple's Chinese operations
are concerned.

Could you stay on fricking topic and let go of your endless war against
Apple. At least take it where it belongs. Which isn't here.

A close family member was a senior financial executive at several large
USA corporations.

He used to say that if they did not get contested by government
auditors, that meant that they had not sufficiently pushed the
envelope.... I guess the calculation was money spent haggling with
auditors vs money saved by paying less in taxes.

I used to meet accountants who bragged that their clients were never
audited. They obviously never heard of invalid regulations.
