I think it depends.

On the one hand, a "very rude" image certainly would get a reaction
out of a website's readership, but it IMO probably be that the
website was an "innocent victim" of a malicious hack, not that they
themselves had done anything wrong.

On the other hand, an "I'm sorry you're reading content from a thief"
makes it quite clear that the website was the guilty party.

there's a certain photo with goat in its name that works wonders.

Yes, that's the one that I was alluding to.

it's distributing content that is not yours and for which you do not
have the rights to distribute it.

Prove it.

read the relevant laws.

The problem is you don't know it's been done.

that doesn't make it legal.

An interesting legal perspective, although I'd make a counterpoint
that it really should depend on just how the hotlinking was done.
IMO, its one thing if the hotlinked image had been dutifully attributed
to its copyright owner, but if it was misrepresented as belonging
to the one who did the hotlink, that's entirely a different story.

Hotlinking is allowed as the law is practiced in the EU and USA. Feel
free to thange them! :-))

In extenso then It sure is. Unless you have secured the rights to the
material. You're publicising something that you don't own for your own
purposes. Quotations are different

When I back up tonight SDs image and lots of others are in my cache and some

done on a regular basis it is NOT illegal.

backups are not the same as uploading content.

Thank you. I'm fairly sure that you've told me previously that I could
share you images if I wished.

somehow i doubt that.

once again, you're trying to weasel out of having stolen other people's
content.

I've stolen nothing. Savageduck still has his fantastic image of the
Cheetah. I'm now wishing that I *had* downloaded and kept a copy. My
loss, that's for sure. :-(

You just have to choose an appropriate cat.

I get "Sorry, there's no such page here"

that's because you're an idiot.

No, I'm not. Why do you lie so often?
