Scanned files
Don Stauffer in Minneapolis wrote: I was asked to take some digital pictures for a project at church. I understood that the main use of the photos was to be projected during services by their graphics projector/computer. Fine. Then I learned they also wanted all pictures in this project printed in LARGE size to display in parts of church. I suggested that I shoot on film, then scan print for use in computer. They said, "no, no, it MUST be digital!" I am having a devil of a time convincing them that a scanned image is truly a digital image. I have had this problem before. There seems to be this belief that once an analog image, ALWAYS an analog image. Once a digital image, ALWAYS a digital image. I have even seen this on this group in the past. There have been threads about scanned images versus "real" digital images :-( Don Stauffer in Minnesota How large do they want the prints? How many MP is your camera capable of capturing? If they want 16 x 20 prints, and your digicam is 3MP, then of course, you had better go with Film for the prints. Then scan the negatives for the projector. There are many online sources that will both make the prints and scan the negatives for a modest fee. If they want 8 x 10 prints and your digicam is 4MP or more, go digital all the way.
