Hands-on preview is on DPReview. Numerous improvements over the D80 it
replaces. 12.2 megapixels, self cleaning sensor, faster frame rate,
movie mode, Live View, better autofocus, scene recognition, etc. In
fact, this camera compares more closely to the D300 than it does the
D90.

Why a 12 bit sensor?

Why a 12 bit sensor?

Why a 14 bit one?
Have you seen comparisons 12/14 bit with D300, 40d etc?

Yes. When differences are so minor that you need to do a special test
to even see it, then it's not really a very interesting feature at all.
A lot of noise was also made by some enthusiasts about Nikon "lossy"
compressed raw files - which appears to be the raw file format in the D90.
