iPhone X vs LG6
My LG6 seemed decent until my wife recently upgraded to an iPhone X.
For low light shooting hers is vastly superior. If I've read the specs correctly, the ISO range on my camera is up to 3200 yet on hers the max ISO is 2000 I am sure there have been improvements in processing but before I am forced to get a new phone, is there anything I can tweak to improve my camera. Thanks |

wrote: My LG6 seemed decent until my wife recently upgraded to an iPhone X. hopefully not that recent, since the x is last year's model and has been discontinued, replaced by less expensive and more capable options. For low light shooting hers is vastly superior. no surprise there. If I've read the specs correctly, the ISO range on my camera is up to 3200 yet on hers the max ISO is 2000 that's not a valid comparison since the sensors are different and the isps (which is what really matters) are *completely* different. I am sure there have been improvements in processing but before I am forced to get a new phone, is there anything I can tweak to improve my camera. not really. if low light is your goal, the google pixel 3 with its night sight is the way to go. on the other hand, if a better display, faster device and compatibility with your wife's phone (share content, buy apps only once, etc.) is the goal, then an iphone xr or xs is the way to go. |

My LG6 seemed decent until my wife recently upgraded to an iPhone X. For low light shooting hers is vastly superior... I don't know anything about Android phones; I use an iPhone X. However, a friend and I took photos of the same scene in poor lighting. His Android produced a distinctly better photo (more accurate color, less noise) than my iPhone. One instance proves nothing, but the Android was a clear winner in that instance. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm |

And that's certainly true of the Google Pixel 3 which has some superb camera post-processing facilities (very low light capability, adjustable pokeh on portraits etc. etc.). -- Cheers, David Web: http://www.satsignal.eu |

Thanks See if you can get a slow shutter-speed app? I did try another camera app. Not much difference though. Thanks I think, rather than spend money I'll just take my Nikon along if I need to shoot in low light. |

I compared shots again and though I think her results were better than mine, considering how dark it was in there...mine did a good enough job. |

I did say one which allowed longer exposures. The Google Pixel 3 equivalent takes multiple ~0.5s exposures with OIS, then aligns and combines them. One of my earlest tests: https://www.satsignal.eu/2018-11-29%2003.24.30.jpg and, no, I'm not claiming this replaces a bigger camera with a wide-aperture lens! -- Cheers, David Web: http://www.satsignal.eu |
