Sony even state the viewfinder resolution as 1024 x 768. Common
resolution on old laptops.

That's just weird - why would you disingenuously state the number of
"dots"?

because that way you get a bigger number, and bigger numbers sell.

at least sony calls them dots, so it's technically true.

contrast that with sigma, who triples the number of pixels and
fraudulently calls them pixels. worse, they now have this equivalency
nonsense. the quatro is supposedly a 60 mp equivalent, even though it's
basically just a 5 mp camera.

Yeah, that's both funny and made them lose tons of creed!

Confirming that: 1024 x 768 x 3 = 2359296, the number of dots claimed
by Sony.

suppose this is standard for the business, but it's still ****ing dumb.

Why dots? Because it's a bigger number than the number of RGB "pixels".
Yes, it's the "standard".

I think that you should be able to figure by the context that there was
a typo in the above.

These are emitters, not receptor, though.

Well which one would you measure in tons ! :-)

From what I understand both are measured in bovine excrement tonnage.

Not necessarily... I thought that the term were quite adequate Foveon
and Bayer type sensors since the stacked sites of the Foveon generates
more information than the spread out sites in a Bayer pattern.
