The Moon handheld
From: Frank ess )
Subject: The Moon handheld Newsgroups: rec.photo.digital Date: 2005-01-29 00:37:31 PST snip links to some moon photos Big disappointment was the dramatic clouds in the frames just plain don't show up. I'd like to use a 1.4x or 2x convertor, but I understand they don't work with EF-S lenses. How about an EF-to-FD adapter and my old f/8 500mm cat? I'm all Manual in the dark anyway, eh? I've found exactly the same thing. As I only have a Minolta Dimage 7i, I'm constrained by the lens. I used the maximum zoom of 200mm (35mm equiv), with a 2x converter screwed on the front and sometimes trying the 2x digital zoom. The total should be around 800mm (35mm equiv) of focal length. ISO 100 with an exposure of 1/190 sec with apeture of f 1:9.5 http://members.iinet.net.au/~therealm/jeffbd/photo/moon1.jpg If I expose for the dramatic clouds, the moon almost looks like the sun (it is so damn bright) is in the picture. On the other hand, (same as you) if I expose for the moon, I get a similar looking pic of the moon on a (aparrently) blank sky. |
