And of course the reflected image is in near IR anyway. People can look
pretty ugly at IR wavelengths.

It can work, however. I was testing a near IR military sensor in a lab
one day. I kept seeing a hot spot near the target, in an area where
there was a lot of test equipment. We had covered all that equipment
with black felt or black cloths to knock out the pilot lights. Found
one of the black cloths, though opaque to visible, was virtually
completely transparent to 1.06 micron!

Didn't they sell those "glasses" on the last page of comic books, next to
the rubber barf, and plastic dog turds?

With the spiral pattern on the lenses? Yeah, I was tempted to buy them.
Johnson Smith Catalog used to have things like that. Hand buzzers, snappy
gum, squirt flowers, and all that.
