Help! My Powershot S50 Discharges Batteries
Recently, my Canon Powershot S50 has begun discharging batteries. If I
leave the Li/ion battery in the camera overnight, it's dead in the morning. At first, I suspected the battery, so I bought a new one. The new one suffers the same fate. Why is my camera discharging batteries? I've cleaned the contacts, etc. Nothing works. I emailed Canon, but they weren't able to help me. I was told to send it in for repair for $300. I might as well buy a new one for that price, and the camera still works. What can I do? Thanks for any help anybody can provide. If you have any ideas about what this is, email me at Thanks. --David |

The only thing I can suggest is to measure the current that the batteries
are experiencing when the camera is off. This will tell you what the camera is drawing from the batteries when it is turned off. This is not very easy but it can be done. This measurement excludes any internal battery loss. If you would like, contact me (send an e-mail to me )and I will try to explain how you can measure this current when the camera is off.
