A field camera to mount <65mm lenses?
Hi,
I'm an amateur and I have a graflex super graphic camera... I like doing architecture and landscape photography. Since I'm shooting interiors, I'd really like to use a wider lens... The widest I have is a 90mm Grandagon... I'd like to have something similar to a 20mm focal or less on a 35mm camera. The problems with the graflex are essentially two: - the rails of the camera would appear in the picture with lenses wider than 90-75mm... - it would be difficult to focus and use the movements with such shorter focals... Perhaps I could try using another field camer (I wouldn't really go for a view camera... I have to pack light!) thanks in advance for advices |

Perhaps I could try using another field camera
other requirements: - I don't care for movements: the same of the graflex super speed graphic are enough for me... - should be made of metal or reinforced wood - must have international back (so I can use Polaroid and 120 format backs) - no more than 750-1000$ used |

You want a 64mm lens on a rangefinder 4x5 field camera and you want room for movements? First, you aren't going to get a whole lot of movements other than rise/fall and shift due to the circle of coverage. Swings and tilts to 10 degrees, possibly. And no rangefinder, not even with the Linhof Super Technika. And I can't see your objection to a view camera because a bag-bellowed super-wide will be quite small and lighter than a field camera. (Shorten the rail to make it even more compact.) Now if you want a great wide angle 4x5, look at the Silvestri with the viewfinder. If you come back to earth after learning how expensive it is, we can talk about something other than the so-called 'field camera'. |

That's true, and it is a work of art, as well. I overlooked it because I'm confused as to exactly how a 'field camera' is defined. Silly me, I think 'field camera' and see a lens and bellows that retracts into a closed box. |
