Which part of the D810 is plastic?

The little red thing.

Put some ducktape over it to preserve some of the initial value of
your
investment!

The 'Duck uses "duct tape", or "gaffer tape".

The two are quite different. Ducktape, or duct tape, leaves a sticky
residue when removed. Gaffer tape does not. Ducktape, or duct tape,
provides a more secure adhesion.

I use "electrical" tape for the said purpose. The adhesive do have a
tendency to liquify a tad over time though.

What type of tape do you use for securing your victims to a chair in the
basement?

...or what tape do you use to keep your models from moving? (that keeps
this OT for photography)

Duct tape can be used to prevent overexposed photographs. Cover your
lens with it.

Cover your lensmount with and punch a hole in it instant pinhole

When used as intended, to seal joints in ventilation ducting, duct tape
is not removed too often. Gaffer tape is, as you said, a temporary fix.

Gaffer tape's primary use is on stage or movie sets to provide marks
where the actor is to stand or items are to be placed. Using duck
tape would result in sticky residue that requires clean-up. Using
regular masking tape would result in it being scuffed off quickly.

A primary use is also to cover wires laid across the floor to prevent
people from tripping over the wires. The wires may be frequently
moved, so easy removal and lack of adhesive residue is important.

A "gaffer" is, of course, a show business term for an electrician.

The product types discussed can be compered he

I can use my camera as a pinhole. I have a body cap with a hole drilled
in it, just for that purpose.
