The triple-layer (full-colour) sensor is based on speculation generated
by this patent:

Apparently Canon even has a 120MP sensor.

So you could have a 24 x 36 inch print at 300dpi. If you need that, great.
What is the noise penalty on a 35mm frame?

I can get the same result (on landscapes) by overlapping 3 or 4 24mp images
into one.

But what lens would do justice to a 75mp sensor?
