$2500 for a tripod that supports 8.8 lb. But you get your name
personally engraved into a leg.

This came up almost six months ago. A magazine said a couple months back
they had sold most of them.

Well, if you're going to spend $8000 for a dSLR then you clearly
have the money to spend on a fancy tripod.

It deserves it. The tripod is beautiful, uses titanium fittings and their
best carbon fibre shafts for the legs. Very light and stronger (stiffer)
than the ones with aluminum fittings. A given Gitzo weighing 6lbs will have
the same vibration level under weight as a 12lb Manfrotto. I've seen the
Italian's tests.
Considering their normal tripods run $600-$700, the price is in-line.
