Notice that at the bottom of the report it says that Jim is an online
retailer or something like that. Could it be that he sells digital cameras?
Digitals are more delicate than film cameras and some of the older ones had
trouble with wide angle lenses. A lot of what is said only applies to
cameras that are competing with 35mm cameras. A MF digital camera will cost
a chunck of money. Digitals also eat batteries from what I hear. So with
film you risk losing a shot because of running out of film, but with digital
you risk it by running out of battery power. If you go to Large Format, a
4X5 negative is equal to a 1.5 gigabyte camera. If you use a digital back
for a LF you will need a laptop to download the pictures to. Many people
don't want the hassle of loading a computer with pictures and openning
something called Photoshop to improve the picture. If people did those
disposable cameras would not be selling at all. Also, some of the things
said in that article about being able to correct your photos before printing
are also possible with film that has been scanned. Lastly, when someone can
show me a CD that has survived 40+ years like my Kodachrome slides have,
then I will be interested in a digital. Right now I have a CD that I paid
$40 for that teaches me how to play an accordion. The only problem is that
I can no longer use the videos on it for some reason. It is 4 years old.
