Default F80 or EOS30?

I would like to ask about experience with the F80 and eos 30 biodies. Did
anyone ever used both? Are there any comparisons?

Thanks a lot!!

I have the EOS 33 and find it to be a fantastic photographic tool. I
opted against the eye control focus; it just seemed gimmicky.
Metering is excellent, autofocus is decent though some have had
trouble with low-light AF. The camera itself is lightweight, yet very
sturdy. Its a very quiet SLR. If you choose the Canon get the BP-300
battery grip. It provides the option to use AA alkaline batteries,
and it improves the overall handling of the camera. There is nothing
wrong, so far as I can tell, with the F80 but my experience is with
the Canon. Happy shopping!

just another point of view. I like my EOS30 eye control. I also almost
never use my BP-300 grip! Other wise I agree with Michael except that
the choice between Canon and Nikon should be made as a choice between
systems, not just between these two bodies.

Your last remark is correct. The whole matter was brought to me by a friend
who wants to try film SLR. As soon as he can start from scratch, it's the
same thing either way. Besides the body, what matters is lenses. And I do
not really believe that nikon lenses are superior to canon or the other way
around. I think consumer lenses are usually mediocre, third party can be
better and pro lenses are superb.

As far as I am concerned, I see that F80 has brighter viewfinder and spot
metering. but less focus points. So, it's up to the users' experience what's
more important or not, that's why I posted.

In practice one almost never has trouble because of "missing" focus points...

Good to know, as I believe the viewfinder issue and spot metering are far
more important to eye-focus.

I have the EOS 30. I don't use the Eye control much, but find the camera
excellent. Metering is very good, as is AF. It's also pretty fast (4 FPS I
think) and quiet.
I also have the battery grip, I find the vertical shutter button a must, and
the grip gives a better feeling camera in big hands.

Alan.
