Eyepiece/viewfinder adapter sizes
Does anyone have any information on the standardization of viewfinder
accessory clips - or know where there is info? I haven't found much through internet searches so far. I am trying to find out how standard they have or have not been. Specifically, I have a right angled Canon finder that I know fits most Canon's before EOS ( I don't know if it fits them or not). It also fits my Mamiya 645 and I believe some Pentaxes. Any ideas - or are the sizes all over the map? Thanks |

(Canon's EP-EX would be handy to add to a lot of non-Canon cameras, but it doesn't fit.) I think you will find that Pentax, Olympus OM, Mamiya/Sekor, and many cameras of the 1970s (Yashica, Ricoh, Canon FD, and who knows what else) have the same eyepiece frame. The Minolta and Olympus angle finders fit them. Olympus's "Varimagni Finder" is especially nice since it gives you 2 magnifications. But they do not fit Nikon (either round or rectangular) nor Canon EOS, as far as I know. DISCLAIMER: This is rough information from memory. Make actual tests if you want something to fit something else! -- Clear skies, Michael A. Covington Author, Astrophotography for the Amateur www.covingtoninnovations.com/astromenu.html |
