Default F3 Settings???????

I know I need to get a manual, but. When you load film in an F# does
the camera automatically set film speed? When using the Sb-16 does it
automatically set it self up? Sync speed etc.... What happens in the
view finder? Is there a ready light? Thanks

The F3 does not read DX coded film, so you have to manually set the film
speed. There is a manual and lots of information at:

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/f3manual/index.htm

There are some PDF copies of parts of the manual, if you want to print
them out. Unfortunately, due to a complaint from NikonUSA distributor,
the Photography in Malaysia site had to take down the PDF manual version
(maybe we should do a write-in complaint to NikonUSA) . . . . Anyway,
here is a link to information about the F3 on Web Archive:

http://web.archive.org/web/20040102230825/www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/manuals/F3/

This will have to do until NikonUSA pulls their head out of their
collective ass on a product they no longer sell. I think Nikon Europe
still have a PDF manual for download:

http://24.237.160.4/files/photography/Nikon/Manuals/F3Book/ Full
Manual, large file size.

When using the Sb-16 does it
automatically set it self up?

Okay, same web site also has information on the SB-16 Speedlight:

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/flash/sb16ab/manual/index.htm

Sync speed etc.... What happens in the
view finder? Is there a ready light? Thanks

The ready light is at the top of the circle for the viewfinder.
Actually, the newer Nikon Speedlights for Autofocus cameras will work
through an adapter, and might actually offer more choices, and less
weight, than an SB-16. However, if you already have an SB-16, then you
have a large and powerful flash unit.

Ciao!
