The smug assurance of someone who found out about the agreement 30 mins ago. But Ping is nothing if not pragmatic. When they released a driver years ago with an illegal thin face (it flexed inward when the ball was struck) the PGA tried to ban the club. Ping had resources so they sued to keep the club around. The PGA, which didn't have as much resources, backed down. And now mediocre golfers can score higher, and the club confers no benefit on pros. Kind of like socialism in golf. If you bothered fact checking, you would see that the scores of amateur golfers have not decreased with the introduction of the hi tech equipment. Nor gone higher! The reason: the longer distance down the fairway is off set by going deeper into the rough/OB, etc. -- john mcwilliams |

I used to regularly play a $10 Nassau. The few times I played a higher game, I shot an embarrassingly low score. -- Peter |
