Default Looking for a photographer in Ottawa

Hello everyone,

We're looking for a photographer in Ottawa to shoot a wedding in
August 2005. Ideally, we're looking for someone who would take
primarily photojournalistic/candid photographs of the ceremony and
reception, with obviously a few formals thrown in.

Because of our tight budget, we'd be happy to take on a student,
recent graduate, or freelancer, who might be looking to get experience
and build a portfolio, while allowing us to stay within our budget.

Photography experience would obviously be required, but not
necessarily in the field of wedding photography. Importantly, we would
like to keep the negatives, and take care of our own prints. We could
also provide the film and care of the photo finishing if that would
make it easier. Of course, the photographer would be free to use any
in their portfolio, website, etc.

Essentially, if you have a cool style you'd like to show us, please
contact us at and we can discuss availability,
price, and all the other details.

So, essentially, you want a wedding photographer to work for free in
exchange for the experience ?

Wasn't it Joe Cash who said...

It's all Dr. Spock's fault, you know? This overwhelming self-
esteem...

Same-sex wedding?

No, the same scammer (I'm pretty sure it's the same) contacted me, and
before I realized it was a scam I told him to send me a $500 retainer. I
then realized it was a scam, and sent an email saying I was otherwise
occupied. Then I got a cashier's check for $5000 from a "bank" in
Tennessee, sent with a return address to Florida (one Joe Sabin), the letter
had a Canadian stamp on it, and the check was signed by John Barnes.

Turned it all over to the FBI.

Wow, it's somewhat amazing to realize that such stump-stupid people like the
perp still exist. Kind of like finding a Dodo in your backyard. So, who's
going to 'virtually konk' the guy? No violence. We just want to tag him.
Wanna out his full ID for the rest of us?

Oooh! You never did tell us the backend of that story...

Cheers,
Alan

I can assure you that I'm not a scammer. Just a person looking for a
photographer. If you'd like my contact details to make sure, please
e-mail me again and I'll be sure to provide them.

To the comment above, as to whether we're essentially looking for a
free photographer, that's not exactly accurate. We don't intend to
take advantage of anyone. It's simply due to the fact that we don't
have a lot of money for the wedding, and therefore, not much money for
the photographer. We thought, as a benefit to both parties, we would
find someone who has experience in photography, but not necessarily in
wedding photography, in exchange for a reduced fee.

Importantly, while not in the photography business, I've gotten to
where I am because someone gave me, when I was still in school, a
chance to do some fantastic work (unpaid). The experience and contacts
I have gained through that, and the following experiences, cannot be
measured in terms of money. I stronly believe in giving an opportunity
to young people, especially if it helps them grow and learn.

If anyone is honestly interested, please contact me.

For the record, your post sounds A LOT like the scam I've recently been
party to (fortunately not the victim of). Your IP address does trace to
Ottawa, though, whereas the scammer's (also coming through hotmail) traced
to an unregistered network in Canada near the upstate New York border.
Interestingly, yours seems to be coming via the Supreme Court of Canada's
network...

I would think you'd have your best luck advertising locally in small town
newspapers. Afterall, while, I could drive to Ottawa (I'm in Michigan),
that'd up your price a grand, and I am otherwise more or less the
inexpensive wedding photographer you're looking for.

Really, when you think about it, for the scam to work the scamee has to be
remotely located from the scammer.

Perhaps it's just your bad luck/timing, but I still say I smell a fish.
