Default Slideshow Software That Allows Manual Advance to Next Image

I currently use an older product called Photo Album which provides for
timed advances as well as manual advance with a mouse click. It also
provides for multiple slide shows selectable by menu. However, it
does not provide for any transitions or background music, etc.

I would like to update to something with more capability, but can't
seem to find any (e.g., ProShow Gold) that provide for manual slide
advance (back and forwards) or for selecting from a list of slideshows
on single disk. Anyone have any recommendation for me to look at?

Photo Story 3 will do this. It's a free download from Microsoft at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...y/default.mspx

If you try this program, bookmark http://www.papajohn.org/. He's a
great source of information about MovieMaker and Photo Story. Read
some of his links on Photo Story and watch his tutorials.

I will be trying PS.

It occurs to me as an afterthought that I am looking for a product
that combines the capability of a Photo Album with a Slide Show. I am
beginning to suspect that I might need two different products since
the two capabilities might not be availabe in a single product.

Here's another freebie that is easy to work with:
http://www.faststone.org/ and download the Image Viewer 3.6. It will
make slideshows that you can save and send. Also an excellent viewer
with some additional bells and whistles. It doesn't do fancy
slideshows with music and such, but it handles images.

Want to do multiple albums with slideshow capabilities? Try the free
JAlbum at http://jalbum.net/. Free upload with built-in ftp that
provides a link that you can send to friends and family. A little
steeper learning curve, but not really difficult.

If you want to see albums, email me and I'll send you a link to some
I've done on JAlbum. The addy above is valid.

PS I have grandchildren and I have relatives scattered all over the
world that I send pix to. I do this stuff all the time.

Actually Faststone Image Viewer can create a slidshow with music. However
the Music simply plays over the show so if you go back a slide the song
keeps moving forward. Can make for an interesting slide show.
