Default Duty free Narita

I'll be passing through Narita airport with a 8 hour layover in a few
weeks and would like to look at (and maybe buy) a Panasonic DMC-FX10K.

Anyone happen to know the name or email address of a duty free camera
shop at Narita? I'd like to correspond and see if I can organise for
one of these cameras to be there when I arrive.

Thanks in advance;

RB

Roy,

I travel to Tokyo all the time on business - Japan duty free will only save
you 5% off the price you pay since there are no taxes or duties except the
5% consumption tax. To purchase you must have your passport showing you are
a visitor.

In reality the duty free shops are usually more expensive than the regular
discount shops since they are located at the airport they sell for close to
list price while the discount stores in Tokyo will sell for 15-20% off of
MSRP. Most of the shops I have seen at the airport are quite expensive.

You need to check the price here in the US (I assume you are from the US...)
as it currently is usually cheaper to buy here than in Japan for most items.
I bought a Nikon D70 in the US cheaper than I can buy it it Tokyo even if I
buy at the big discount shops due the the current yen/dollar exchange rates.

Hope this helps.
