Always format, reformat, and delete in the camera; and never do it in a
printer or computer. The printer or computer can louse up the card's
file registry. There are several rescue software programs available that
might help you. My SanDisk CF cards each came with a mini-CD containing
such a free program.
Good luck.

Morton is right that far, but then he goes astray.
The camera requires the card to be formatted in FAT; the default for Win
XP is NTFS. Two different file systems. Format the card in your
computer, specifying FAT, and it will work in your camera.

FYI, I never format my CF cards - I just Move the pictures to my
computer disk. - Max
