Any Downloadable Lens Testing Charts On The Web?
Are there any downloadable lens testing charts available on the Internet?
I don't need anything exotic, I just would like to check for the sweet spot and also would like to see how much pincushion or barrel distortion my lenses have. So, the simpler the better. |

yes, lots of options, the easiest may be available at my pages at http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/resolution.html using 1951 USAF images etc. see http://medfmt.8k.com/mf/lenstest.html for misc. lens test notes; my favorite is the chart by Roger Hicks on the effect of one stop over-exposure in reducing lens resolution at the optimal f/stops by up to 20% - yet another got-cha in lens testing issues ;-) hth bobm -- ************************************************** ********************* * Robert Monaghan POB 752182 Southern Methodist Univ. You may want to consider a brick wall. It's flat so you can use it to check for the "sweet spot" and the straight lines run both vertically and horizontally makes the distortion easy to spot. -- Keep working millions on welfare depend on you ------------------- |

I don't follow you--it it easy to determine the sweet spot when looking at a brick wall? I thought it would require something with lines that were closer together? |

There's a lot of very fine detail in the bricks and the grout. -- Keep working millions on welfare depend on you ------------------- |
