Well, a duck is a bird... like a turkey...

True. But I prefer turkey. Duck is kind of oiley/greasey. Plus there isn't a
lot of meat.

Yes!! Pumpkins! Leaves! Autumn stuff that presented nicely and meets the
mandate perfectly! Love the colors.

Thank you. My green pumpkins finally turn orange a month after Halloween.

However, you only used an out of date Canon "A" series camera. Bad move.
This is a gear forum where it isn't the image that counts, it's the gear.
Obviously, you do not take the shoot-in seriously.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm using a Mamiya with a digital back and alter the
EXIF to avoid been taken too seriously.

Finally, some of the autumnm cliche material I've been looking for:
colored leaves. But that's it. Too much foreground, bad vignetting, likely
from the polarizer that was stacked on top of 7 or 8 other filters, and
some power lines that could have easily been cloned out in Photoshop.
Peter, I'm surprised you didn't care enough to buy a brand new Power Mac,
23" Cinema display, Photoshop CS3, and a Coolpix 9000 to improve this shot
by converting a slice of reality into some over saturated and painted
fictional scene where you could have included a naked model. Obviously,
you do not take the shoot-in seriously.

Grade B

Foreground - come on, needs some context. One filter. Problem with this
lens and a polarizer at wide angles - but did not want to crop as I wanted
space around the tree. Powerlines - it was a photo of a tree in my parents
front garden - the powerlines are a distinctive feature.

Anyway - today I would have used my cameraphone! Or perhaps get a Holga?

Anyway, documentary style, that my reason?

BTW - is there anything a naked model won't improve?

Nope, I could make that work. Think "before and after" shots.

Bob, Bob, Bob! Where to begin? A cell phone? You used a damned cell

phone
when everyone that frequents this NG knows that it's only the gear that
matters? Very disappointing. Not to mention that the shot contains none

of
the tried, true, and tired symbols of autumn we've all come to expect

from
our cliche shots, like colored leaves, football, colored leaves,

turkeys,
and maybe some colored leaves. That, and you didn't even hold your phone
straight. Obviously, Bob does not take the shoot-in seriously.

Looky here, you know how far you have to walk around Orlando
FL. to find an orange tree? Not an Orange tree, which are gone, but an
orange tree? I was looking for a square lake but all I could find are round
ones which might appear crooked. and lastly I was forced to use the full 1mp
on this shot to guarantee highest quality. Lastly I shot the lock off my
wallet to the tune of $0.25 to email this effort to my computer.

Seems to me you're taking this Shoot-In thing a bit TOO seriously.
