Default Air travel with pro photo gear?

I usually travel with a rucksack full of camera gear, namely a Nikon
500mm. telephoto, teleconverters, flash, binoculars, chargers, leads
etc. and my camera vest packed with more gear, spare lenses, GPS, PDA,
batteries, flash cards, headphones etc. and a camera around my neck.
Oh, and the laptop.

What are my chances of still getting away with all this in the present
restrictive travel climate?

The tripod, zoom and other bits (and clothes) go into the checked in
luggage.

I will be travelling from Amsterdam to Vancouver and back.

Presumably the rucksack will be stopped, but are cameras (i.e. a Nikon
D2Hs & 17-55mm. lens) allowed in addition to a laptop?

I've been tempted in the past to carry the camera and 500 over my
shoulder in case they weigh the rucksack!

TIA.

Richard.

Best thing to do is check with the airline about # of carryons and allowable
sizes & weights. I believe flights from the UK are the only ones banning
carryons, but the only way to get the right answer is directly with your
airline.

From the UK I think they only banned carry-ons for a couple of days. Then
they brought in a smaller size limit than previously and maintained a ban on
liquids.
This week (today I think) they are expected to announce further relaxation
on carry-on limits.

Agree it is best to check with the airline in the departure country, doing
so close to departure date.
