Anyone use Qimage software
It's like $70 now. Is it worth it?
I just stumbled across it while looking for some info on my printer. It looks interesting, but I don't know if it does anything worthwhile that I can't do already with LR, or PS, or the camera software, etc... |

Good. I'm always looking for reasons to not spend money. |

I was wondering, because it got very high praise on some discussion group I stumbled upon. I figured someone here would know enough about it so I could make a decision without spending a lot of time on research. |

I figured someone here would know enough about it so I could make a decision without spending a lot of time on research. I believe that a major claim for it was that it would scale output DPI of an image by interpolation to the printer "native" DPI. Arguments then ensued on forums as to why QImage was capable of doing a better job of this that the printer maker's own driver software would. I think probably not, nobody could produce a convincing argument as to why it might, so I never bothered trying it myself. Another use for it may have been for users who wanted to use a colour-managed workflow, but were using image editing software which didn't facilitate use of ICC printer profiles. I could be wrong, but think QImage could be used for this. |
