Opinions On Nikon 8700
Generic comments about this class of camera:
They are all better than their detractors would allow. Picture quality is excellent except at high effective ISO and then it is usable. The Nikon has a limited zoom range at the wide angle side but is light weight. The biggest issue with this class of cameras is not picture quality it is the electronic viewfinder: they are difficult to use in bright sunlight and difficult to confirm focus. On the plus side you can instantly see what changing the exposure for the highlights or the shadows will do the overall image. I have the Sony 828: it is good enough for now that I will wait for the next generation of Nikon dSLRs. |

My recommendation is to purchase the Nikon D70 dSLR. Fine, fine camera.
Forget the electronic viewfinder. Check out reviews http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php...roductNr=25214 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond70/ I purchased a d70 after upgrading from Minolta Dimage 7i. Very pleased. I'm considering a purchase. Any feedback is appreciated....TIA. Go look at the sample pix on Steve's Digicams. My preference (nikon-oly-sony-canon-minolta) would be the Canon PowerShot Pro 1. Look at the overhead wires on the red brick factory shots. I think there are fewer artefacts. GG |

Have one and love it. I will let the pros pick it apart for the good
and bad points. It does everything I want it to do an the pictures are great. Does eat batteries so you will need spares. A ton of features that I have not even tried as yet. On Thu, 12 Aug 2004 21:47:06 GMT, "Ric Kaysen" wrote: I'm considering a purchase. Any feedback is appreciated....TIA. |
