Default [SI] Bowser's shot

Another week, another business trip. This shot is from the pier at Santa
Monica, CA (USA). During the late afternoon, the local poor and homeless
(not my opinion, but according to the local police) take over the pier to
fish for some dinner, and this person was one of the many casting a line or
two.

Note the complete lack of purple fringing.

;-)

I'll have to get around to entering again. I still have not processed
all my B&W from my holiday a couple of weeks back and hardly taken
any shots either.

Of 'backlit subject' I was impressed by Steely Dan's shot and my favorite
is definitely Tom Hudsons. However, I keep finding my eye drawn to
Skips but I'm not sure why...

;-)

BTW, is anyone else having problems with not all of the images on the
shootin site on pbase display, including thumbnails.

Pete

I'm finding it hard to pick a favourite, it would have to be out of
Martin's, Jim's and Skip's. Trying hard to ignore male bias I think it
would have to be the spider, if only because I find the sparkles up the
back of the woman's leg slightly spoil the effect for me. It's still
very close between the 3 though.

Not seeing any problems with it from here.

Yeah, me. Thumbnails are OK, but some of the images refuse to appear at
full size, but will come up at the smaller sizes. Must be the name ;-)

Thanks for that! G
Actually, if I had it to do over again, I'd print one that had less of a
"sparkle" effect on the back of her leg. The more I look at it, the more it
annoys me, too. When I first printed it, I thought it looked pretty cool.
And the model herself doesn't really like it, she thinks the sparkles make
her rear and thigh look lumpy. And, to a certain extent, I'd have to
agree...

Thanks a lot for that. It's a bigger compliment for me than you think ;-)

Well, I tried to take a photo that's typical of my submissions, and whether
or not I succeeded, who knows?

I've been changing from mostly landscapes/wildlife to people, so I'd say
mine is my current typical shot (there's a person in it and it shows
I've not had much practice :-)
To me the shot conveys a mood that's totally unlike what there was at
the time.

One of the image tools I use is wrapping the first 16 pixels or so off
the left-hand edge of the image and sticking them on the right
(pre-rotation, so it's on the bottom of this one). Didn't notice until
now that I'd been caught by it doing it to this one as well...
