I almost always use two cameras at that kind of event. A long one for those at
the podium, a wider one for audience shots and group pictures.

a ... "long" ... camera? :-)

But well, if you can't move a bit, can't crop in post and need
100% framing out of camera and have common situations which call
for 57 or 68 mm ...
