Well, those *are* timely subjects for a decaying architecture mandate. :^|

The challenge in Florida might be to find the most opulent foreclosed house in

boss, or other famous celebrity.

Didn't you mean "infamous celebrity?"

Actually, I agree with him. Nine out of ten abandoned architecture

Do you live in the North East?

Duh.

Have you seen the re-vitalization? (Some call it "gentrification."

Yes! There are a lot of issues with denigrated inner cities, but that
issue is not limited to the US North East.

Nor did he say that, Peter. He said they have an advantage. It's
easier for a resident of a "rust belt" state to go out and find a
interesting photographic opportunity that it is for me if the mandate
is architectural decay. An abandoned steel mill is a more interesting
subject than the typical abandoned house in this area.

Coming from Rich I took it as a jab, and reacted accordingly.

That doesn't mean that I can't compete in the mandate. I just have to
put more thought, imagination, and searching for sites into it.

I won't complain about whatever mandate is chosen.

I Most abandoned steel mills I am aware of are located in Western
Pennsylvania. Lat time I looked PA is not part of the North East, but
Mid-Atlantic

In today's society, what's the difference? I submit that anyone who imagines
that there actually is a difference didn't watch last night's White House
Correspondents' Dinner! (That is to say, they didn't watch it on CNN. C-SPAN
at least broadcast it a cappella, without the continual intervention by
fawning commentators.)

Well, let's see... I vote for:

* On the Road
* Signs
* My Town
* Decay (consider shots of abandoned, or forgotten architecture, etc.
* Transport (all and/or any forms of transport excluding automobiles)

I almost voted for "Open", but I guess I'll leave that for a time when I don't
like enough of the other choices.

And I vote (plead?) for the omission of a harsh, arbitrary prohibition of
archive shots.

One last thought (not starting a sidebar discussion): JUSTICE FOR THE DUCK!!!

There should always be a place for the appropriate archive shot,
especially when circumstances have restricted individuals such as
PeterN from contributing for the last SI. He has already advised us, he
might not be able to shoot for the next SI. So I believe an archive
waiver is just fine.
Let's just get more images and participants into each SI, not make it
appear in any way hostile to entries. I am prepared to forego any or
all of my winnings from the SI to make this happen.

Not since the "Chloe" retreat/withdrawal statement in
rec.photo.equipment.35mm yesterday.
"Same crap, same people, same childish behaviour...
Bye bye for me. You lot will squabble this group into oblivion soon
enough, you're nearly there now."

So I guess he is working on yet another clone with more experience than

Btw, anybody heard from D-Mac lately?

I haven't heard from him, lately, but I was thinking about him the other day
as I contemplated trying one of his "stepped out pano's" ...
It's a challenge I might take up before the end of the summer.

Take Care,

Now *there's* a two-fer. Meets the macro/closeup mandate as well.

May never come around again. The committee is holding a vote soon to
fill a new board. If it's not filled quickly then the fate of the SI is
uncertain.

And I vote (plead?) for the omission of a harsh, arbitrary prohibition of
archive shots.

Not likely. The prior shootin (Work) had a high percentage of archive
shots. The committee wishes to honor the founder and urge people to get
out and shoot. Esp. now that spring/summer are here (in the northern
hemi anyway) so there is no fricken excuse.

One last thought (not starting a sidebar discussion): JUSTICE FOR THE DUCK!!!

Nah. The committee is made of a bunch of stiff pricked jerks who just
can't abide people who submit long, plagiarized lists of subjects. He
may make his case to the committee directly but he knows we're set in
our ways.

Tell ya what: if, in your plush retirement, you take over the SI in
another couple rounds, you can vote in your list AND allow archive shots
in as you like - including the upcoming SI.

The running dog imperialist is not recognized by the committee to plea
