Who has a 1.25 gallon container? Sure, you can use a larger
container, but why not just package it to make 1 gallon of working
solution?

That is 1 Imperal Gallon. i.e. 1 United Kingdom Gallion.

That probably works for most countries out side the US that does not use
metric measurements.

Have a good day.

I think you have the 1 quart size package. The
instructions on KHCA can be confusing because they show
mixing both stock and working solutions. Unless you have
need for all of it at once mix it as a stock solution. The 1
quart size makes one quart of _stock_ solution. This is
diluted 1 part stock to 4 parts water for the _working_
solution, that is, one quart of stock makes 1.25 gallons of
working solution.
The life of the working solution is short, it should be
mixed shortly before use and discarded. Stock solution will
last about 2 months in a filled, closed bottle (Kodak
numbers). Since the solution does not turn color or give any
other sign of having oxidized one must keep track of its
age. When exposed to the air the Sodium sulfite, the main
ingredient in KHCA, turns to Sodium sulFATE. The sulfate
does no harm but is not nearly as good as sulfite as a wash
aid.
