Not the usual sense of layers ( in depth ).

But a very pleasing photo and would count for about 8 layers the
way I count 'em. 11 at a strong stretch.

Ya, I counted each line...including very thin ones...and then there
are several other deeper layers only visible in the smaller,
lower-left mound... There are probably tons more that we'll never
see (at least not for a few more million years).

I got about a dozen layers... looks a bit like this landscape:

About the 28 number... -I had the benefit of the full-res image for my
count.
Much easier to differentiate...
