Minolta Dimage S304
I need to buy a flash card for this camera and was wondering of the "biggest" card I can use. Can I use a 512mb or 1gb with this camera and is there a restriction on the spped capability? |

I have a Minolta S404, so take my thoughts for what they are worth. 1. The S304 is a Compact Flash Camera. Compact Flash has the controler built into the card, not in the camera. The size of the card is not constrained by any controler in the camera. 2. The S304 uses a FAT16 file system. FAT16 normally cannot be used with more than 2.1GB. This implies an absolute limit of a 2GB card. 3. I've used a 512MB card with no problems (as would be expected) in my S404. 4. The S304 and S404 write to CF relatively slowly by today's standards. Today's CF cards have relatively high write/read rates compared to yesterday's standards. So I'd expect that the S304 can't make use of any more speed than that provided by today's run-of-the-mill CF cards. With all that in mind, I'd say you can buy any inexpensive 512MB or 1GB CF card and it will work just fine. -- Dan (Woj...)
