Astia, wrong one - ARGHH !!!
I zoned out at B&H's web site and accidentally
ordered Astia 100, instead of the new Astia 100F that I was eager to try out becuase of it's super- fine grain and relatively low contrast. Is the Astia 100 an old product, or is it just the Astia 100F with a different color balance ? I don't care much about the color since I scan, but I don't want to test an old product thinking it's the new one ! Thanks, John |

Astia, wrong one - ARGHH !!!
The 100F has replaced the plain 100.
The new one apparently has much finer grain (finer than just about any other film) but isn't as sharp. Skin tones are supposed to be improved, but it's still supposed to be rather low in contrast. I've used a roll or two of each recently and to my eyes, and bearing in mind it's only one or two and not hundreds of rolls, the new Astia seems to be a little more saturated than the old one. But nowhere near Velvia levels. Simon. "John Eyles" wrote in message ...
