anyone updated the firmware on HP R707?
Hi,
I'm curious if anyone has succeeded in updating the firmware on an HP PhotoSmart R707. Mine arrived (3 days ago) with 2.00.08, and I downloaded 2.00.14 from HP's support site. That got me a file ("col6942.zip") which contained a "readme.html" file and the (uncompressed) firmware file "tahiPP1t.fwi". I copied the file "tahiPP1t.fwi" to the SD card (root dir) as specified, and did the following (from the firmware update instructions in "readme.html"): Hold the Shutter button down (which is located next to the Video button) while powering on the camera. The focus LED located in front of the camera next to the lens should be on for approximately ten seconds. (my LED blinked once, nothing more) · After a short pause a message will come up stating the firmware is being updated. (not on mine In short...the camera didn't load the firmware HP Support, in India, was quick and friendly, and claimed that all their internal manual on the camera said all I had to do was turn on the camera (no button holding) ... tried that, no luck. I'm a bit suspicious of that mechanism (although that's what's documented for some other HP camera models) because it differs markedly from the file included with the firmware. Any hints appreciated Other than this, I like the camera. I wish it came with a case/cover, but... thanks, Stan |
