Check out the cool guy he
http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/20969/olympus-sp590uz/

He is cool and young and sexy and good looking and is holding the future in
his hands.

Check out the balding, nerdy creep in the background with his ridiculous
tripod and huge lens.

I hope this bites Olympus in the ass.

Apart from the questionable lens quality, when I've used the
previous models in the SP5xxUZ range, they've all been
slower than treacle on a winter's day. My S2IS is no speed
demon, but the Oly's were even slower. Very slow to focus,
poor shot-to-shot time etc.
The example they give on the website of zooming in on the
kid's face playing sport is just dreaming. No way in hell
one of these cameras would be able to lock focus on a moving
object like that when zoomed in.

Very clever ad.

But if it was a real life situation, guess who would actually have got a
usable pic??

Wow. With a camera like this, I can dump not just my DSLR but Photoshop, as
well!

"Beauty Mode lets you smooth a person’s skin, removing unwanted wrinkles or
blemishes. Additionally, make subtle edits, such as slightly emphasizing and
brightening the eyes, with a new post-capture featu Beauty Fix."

"Smile Shot detects a smile on your subject’s face and automatically fires
off three consecutive shots to capture that perfect smile."

"Use the new Soft Background Focus mode on your next trip to a National
Park. It enables you to slightly blur the beautiful vista, lake or canyon in
the background to accent the majestic wildlife in the foreground."

Interesting that this is the camera Olympus offered my friend as a
replacement for 5 year old broken Olympus P&S and side by side comparison of
the pictures both show extreme examples of chromatic aberrations and
monstrous barrel distortion at one end and huge pincushion at the other. The
only thing new is Olympus still can't make a digital camera, 10 years into
the revolution.

Trumps a SLR?
Yeah right. You get a 100 MPG from your Dodge Phoenix too, do you?
