Default FA: Beginners, students and those who need a 2nd camera body need this Canon AE-1 body!

But the AE-1 is especially good for beginners and photography students
because it allows them to shoot in either manual mode or automatic
mode. In manual mode, you choose aperture and shutter speed. In auto
mode, you select the aperture, and the camera chooses the shutter
speed for the correct exposure.

The electronic shutter has speeds which range from 1/1000th of a
second to two seconds. It's powered by a readily-available battery.
Exposure Information is display in the viewfinder. This camera also
has:

Depth of Field Preview
Selftimer with 10-second delay
Backlighting override
Double (or multi-) exposures are possible
Comes with handy rubber eyecup.
This body is clean and operates perfectly (no Canon Squeak). It
accepts All Canon FD and FL lenses, so choose one from the many on
eBay (or elsewhere), and start shooting great pictures.

No, no, no. In automatic, you pick the shutter speed and the AE-1 picks the
aperture.
