What I ordered
I asked some advice earlier about what to order, and this is what I
ended up with, just so you know: Cameras: Sony DSC-RX1R Nikon D800E Nikon D4 No changes there from my earlier list. The D4 will replace my D3s as my main camera. The D800E will be my second body and landscape/portrait camera. And the Sony will be my compact carryalong camera. The lens list: Nikon 14-24/2,8G ED Nikon 24-70/2,8G ED Nikon 70-200/2,8G IF-ED VR II Nikon 80-400/4,5-5,6G ED VR Â* I decided to replace my Tamron 70-200 and the Sigma 150-500 with the Nikon telezooms when I had the opportunity. I went back and forth on whether I should get the 16-35 instead of the 14-24, but in the end this is the ideal range setup, and the 14-24 is supposedly slightly sharper than the 16-35. -- Sandman[.net] |

Happy shooting!! :^) I went through the same process as Jonas, but came to a different conclusion, based upon my needs. I agree that the 14-24 is slightly sharper. The 16-35 takes a normal 77mm filter. I am willing to give up the 2mm, for convenience. I ran a test before I bought, and had no issues blowing up cropped images, to 12 x18. I think I posted this test image before. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/97242118/wide%20macro1.jpg For comparison, her is a slight crop of a similar image, with no post processing. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/97242118/_DSC6789_6159.jpg For traveling, it makes a good companion to my 28-300. -- PeterN |
