Would 35 mm lenses be optimal for full frame digital?

I may hold on to it , So long as I cant hold back from grabing a 17-35 2.8
Now that is my target lens for which the 18-70 would part fund.

I'd agree with the sentiment, but point out that there's a reasonably
brisk market for the lenses from D100 owners and folks who didn't buy
the D70 in a good kit. This market will presumably evaporate at some
point.

I just recently had the good fortune of obtaining one of those lenses at a
pretty good price. I haven't used it a lot, but I recently had to take
some photographs of paving work done by one of my customers. I was amazed
at the sharpness of that lens. Totally amazed.
