Default iPad problem

I'm faced with the need to copy photographs to two iPads. Some 1500
photographs to an iPad 3 and 500 to 7000 to an iPad Air 2. Both are
running iOS 9.3.1. In both cases I want to copy to the camera roll.

I was going to try the app Drop2Roll but it seems to be no longer
available. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to the software
which which will enable these additions to be managed.

Can't the dropbox app do it? Haven't tried it if it can copy multiple files at
the same time.

Either way, you can put the photos in a folder and use iTunes to sync them over
to your iPads respectively.

I've tried that but it only seems capable of adding photos to
'Photos'. It doesn't seem possible to either delete them or edit them.
I understand that deleting and editing is possible if they are in
Camera Roll.

There are a few ways this could be done:

1: Do both iPads share the same AppleID account?
If so, then iCloud storage and sharing is/should be available.

2: You have an Adobe CC subscription. Install LR Mobile (free) on both iPads,
set up a synced collection for each iPad in your desktop LR and on each iPad
choose the *Auto Upload* option for that folder and fill it from the
individual Camera roll. There is no memory penalty on the iPads. Enable Sync
on the desktop LR, each desktop collection will fill and you can drag and
drop between them and they will stay in sync.

3: Use the *Photo Transfer App*.

Dropbox is not going to delete or edit enything, but it will allow movement
of the image files from iPad to Dropbox, and it will permit deletion from DB.
If only one DB account is used with a DB folder for the individual iPads
movement from the DB account to the specific Camera Roll is possible. My
'Step-daughter from Hell’ does that all the time between iPhone and iPad.

1: Don’t use DB *Photos*. Create new individual DB folders for each iPad.

2: Create the DB iPad folders in *Files*.

3: On iPad #1 open the DB App, log-in. On the bottom left of the iPad DB
window select the *Files* icon. Use that. Ignore *Photos*. Go to the three
dots at the top of that column, tap on them, select *Create Folder* label it
“iPad 1”.

4: Open the *iPad 1* folder, tap on the three dots at the top and select
‘Upload File’ select *Photos* that is the iPad *Camera Roll* the entire
contents and Camera Roll albums will be displayed on the left. Select the
images you want to bring to DB by tapping on the to show the file icon in
blue with a check mark. Select whatever you want and go to the top of the
left hand column, tap on *Upload*.

Repeat for *iPad 2*

5: Once the transfer to DB is complete you will have images from both
available to both. However, unless you are using LR Mobile you will have to
save the files one-by-one to the destination iPad Camera Roll. That is a true
tedious, pain in the ass.

6: This is done by opening the other iPad folder on the destination iPad, say
DB *iPad 2* folder on iPad 1. Select an image, on the top right of the DB
window select the share icon, the one with the upward pointing arrow. From
that select and tap on *Save Image* the file will be saved to the Camera Roll
on iPad 1.

These days I prefer to use LR CC syncing for all of this.

Can't he just connect to his Mac with USB and drag 'n drop?

No.
For several reasons, not the least of which is, Eric doesn’t have a Mac.

It could be done, however that is going to entail another work-around,
fortunately there is an app for that.

That's his fault!

There should not be a need for an app for this type of file transfer
regardless of the operating systems involved. This problem is silly!

....and since Eric already subscribes to Adobe CC, the LR Mobile sync
solution, is actually the simplest solution other than iCloud.

I take a shot with my iPhone and it is auto uploaded and synced to my desktop
LR without doing anything other than the setup.
