zoom lens Nikkor vs. Sigma vs. Tamron??

If you stop down any photographic lens sufficiently then the only remaining aberrations will be distortion, lateral color, and chromatic variation of distortion. These last two combined are normally called color fringing. All three of these aberrations can be reduced to vanishingly small levels by simple post processing techniques using free softwa http://www.caldwellphotographic.com/...rFringing.html Brian www.caldwellphotographic.com You CANNOT replace the qualities of an image there were never there to begin with. They're there, just not at the right "place" (by color). The referred s/w corrects the registration (location) of each. Perfect? No Better than uncorrected? zoom lens Nikkor vs. Sigma vs. Tamron??

hi, i am a new owner of nikon d-70 (body only).. and hv owned my f401 for yrs. i am shopping for zoom lenses... and wud like to hear about people's comments on these 3 brands.. Nikkor, Sigma, and Tamron... thks/will Sigma make the best lenses among the manufacturers you listed. The only problem is that you might have compatibility issues when using Sigma lenses on third party camera bodies (Canon, Nikon, Minolta, etc...). The best thing you can do is to sell the ****ty Nikon, buy yourself a new Sigma SD10 DSLR body, and start building your Sigma glass collection. Remember, only Sigma cameras use the coveted Foveon sensor, which is the only sensor to record true color images. All other digital cameras record monochrome pixels, and then guess at the colors later, and more often than not, the colors are way off. The Sigma SD10 also gives you better effective resolution that any other DSLR in production. For slightly more money than you spent on your Nikon consumer DSLR, you can own the Sigma Pro DSLR. Lose that piece of **** and treat yourself to a great camera. Hope this helps, Orville |

You CANNOT replace the qualities of an image there were never there to begin with. I was just pointing out that certain important aberrations can be very successfully eliminated by simple image processing. This will eliminate undesirable image qualities while leaving the desirable qualities intact. Brian www.caldwellphotographic.com |

zoom lens Nikkor vs. Sigma vs. Tamron??
Sigma EX series lenses are worthy alternatives to brand name Nikkor optics.
I shoot the 100-300 f/4 EX HSM on my Canon 10D. It is as fast and sharp as the *slightly* more expensive Canon L series. Avoid the consumer grade stuff of Sigma and Tamron unless you don't mind returning it for a working replacement. I've had 50/50 success with the stuff. Consumer lenses by Sigma, Quantaray, Tamron, and Tokina are all manufactured by _______ and marketed under their respective names by Ritz.
