hot-show flash question; brightness
"Destin_FL" wrote in message
news:IgJKc.3561$Qv4.1717@lakeread03... OK, obvious newbie question... I have a digital camera, and bought a $115 external hot-shoe flash for it, thinking that I would end up with a much more powerful illumination in big rooms for example. But incredibly the little built in flash on the camera is MUCH brighter than that behemoth $115 external flash sitting atop the camera! I must be missing something. Tim You just posted this about 10 hours ago. The answer is the same, nobody can help you w/o the camera & flash model you're talking about. Mark |

hot-show flash question; brightness
Mark and Matt...
Hey, I sincerely apologize for posting twice. Normally when I post, it shows up immediately in the groups, and always has in this group, in my Outlook Express. I waited, like you said, about two hours, and was just sure something had gone wrong, so I posted again. I do apologize for that. I appreciate the help.... the camera is a Minolta Z2, and the flash was a specific Minolta flash made for the Z1 and Z2. But when I would take pictures, I could easily see the room get really bright with the built in flash, and the room would not get nearly as bright with the big hot-shoe flash. And sure enough, upon downloading them to my computer and actually viewing them, the difference is huge. I'm just wondering if you have to tell the camera something to make an external flash really flash. I guess I thought in buying the big external flash, that I would have the ability to really light up larger rooms, i.e. the flash ability would extend for many more feet than just the built-in flash. But the opposite seems to be true. Any ideas? T You just posted this about 10 hours ago. The answer is the same, nobody can help you w/o the camera & flash model you're talking about. T Your camera may be reading ambient light and reducing the flash level to keep it from being overexposed. -- Skip Middleton http://www.shadowcatcherimagery.com |
