I tried to recruit Dudley as a chauffeur, but he is on vacation, so I
used the white cane method. That did not work out too good, so it was
the "one eye open" technique.
It might also give me and alibi when it comes to criticism over my composition.

OK, OK, I have to admit, the SI is going to need recruits from the
digital groups to keep number up. I guess I ignore the trolls at about
the same level as Alan.

You should ignore them all.
Better yet: filter out the whole world,
leave only the voices.
Then maybe the SI will have the end it
richly deserves: not a single attendant!

Doubtful. But I did use my vacation to shoot my "pinhole" pics. I spent a
week on Martha's Vineyard and asked my son and niece to throw darts at a map
of the island. They did in fact find three locations, two of them very nice.
We had to rethrow, though, since a couple of shots ended up in the middle of
the island, right on the airport's runway. I can't get there, so we tried
again. I was on a bicycle all week, so if I couldn't reach the location on a
bike, I had to retry.

Been in the middle of that runway (24-06 anyway) ... we flew a bunch of
airplanes (7 or 8) and camping gear to MV (back in the late 80's) and
landed at a private strip right off Farm Neck Golf Club. We camped
right there with the airplanes.

(I was an instructor then, but flew down with a fellow who owned an
airplane but still didn't have his license. Trip included a failed mike
(landing at Provindence - they even remembered how to use signal lights
(I had to look up the codes [blush]) - to see if we could find a
replacement mike). Kinda cool landing at a controlled airport with jet
traffic when I can hear them, but they assume I can't hear them so they
flash lights at me [no delay either, right smart about it; wish Canadian
controllers were a little more proactive]. Enter the VFR pattern (in
the queer American manner) and taxi in ...).

After a couple days we flew over to the main MV airport for fuel and
lunch. Overwhelmed the poor waitress/cook at the snack bar who called
her boss. When her boss showed up, the waitress/cook drove off...!
Boss did great though...

We then did a mass flyoff from RWY 24 (all airplanes at once with about
200' spacing...).

Got anything to contribute, other than your bitching?

No more than yours.

I've never flown into (as a passenger) MV. The only airport I've ever
flown to or from is the Katama field, and only on a bi-plane tourist
flight. Love those grass runways. One of my darts landed right on
Katama.

Stupid fact #1: One of my darts landed near the harbor at Menensha,
where the local Coast Guard facility used to be. It burned down
yesterday, but I didn't get any shots of it prior to it burning since
I was not in visual range. I've got a couple of shots from years ago,
but, well, you know...

The entire facility was destroyed, along with a significant portion of
the wooden pier. That harbor is currently quite a mess.

WTF? I've been contributing to SI for, what, a year now. Alan
doesn't even comment on my images (I think he's in a snit because I
wasn't complimentary of one of his), let alone instruct me in
anything.

I've never seen a posting from him that was an attempt to boss anyone
around. Unless he's secretly emailing everyone but me, your statement
is complete bull****.

Maybe I missed something from him ordering people to killfile you. I
wouldn't have done so. You are a petty irritant that has never
written anything here of any value or interest, but not significant
enough to bother killfiling.

You're not even fun to reply to in kind.
And yes: the next "step" is emails and posts advising everyone to "killfile trolls".
Understand now what a little cog you are? Bummer, eh?
Ah well, intelligence is not ubiquitous. Thank God for that!
